In August 1977, during the House of God Annual Convocation in St. Petersburg, Florida, Chief Apostle Bishop S. P. Rawlings appointed the then Minister Jerry Carter, at the age of 21, as pastor of the House of God in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Dedicated to this role for over 46 years, Bishop Carter has faithfully shepherded the local church, exemplifying steadfastness, reverence, and obedience to God's Holy Word.
Beyond his pastoral duties, Bishop Carter has spearheaded various projects for local, state, and national churches. His leadership has overseen the construction of churches, multi-purpose facilities, senior citizen housing, and new homes that serve both the church and the broader community. Among these endeavors is the "Daniel 1:4 Learning Center," a community outreach facility dedicated to afterschool mentoring for children and senior citizen activities.
Bishop Carter has been married to Lady Marilyn Carter for over 38 years. He is a family man with two daughters (Nina and Nicole), a son-in-law (Quentin), and six cherished grandchildren (Amia, Quentin, Arianna, Lauryn, Liam and Alayah). Recognized for his contributions, Bishop Carter has received honors and awards from the House of God International Church, the City of Fort Wayne, and the State of Indiana.
